Gayathri
Girish is amongst the leading Carnatic vocalists
of today . An exemplary degree of dedication
coupled with an intrinsic leaning towards
Carnatic Music, has propelled vocalist Gayathri
to the forefront of the classical music domain.
Initially trained by Sri Vaigal Gnanaskandan of
the Semmangudi school, Gayathri has imbibed some
of her boundless Manodharma from the training
under veteran Padma Bhushan, Sangeetha Kalanidhi
Madurai Sri TN Seshagopalan. She has also been
fortunate to have learnt the violin for a few
years from the legendary Lalgudi Sri G Jayaraman
and Smt T Rukmini. Ever since making her debut
in 1986, Gayathri has received accolades in
substantial measure from both the lay listeners
and erudite critics. Her repertoire is
particularly impressive, with songs ranging from
Tamil Tevaram hymns and Divya Prabhandams to
Purandaradasar Devarnamas.Oothukkadu Venkatakavi
Kritis, Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiyar songs,
compositions of Muthiah Bhagavathar, Papanasam
Sivan and Ambujam Krishna all find a place in
her song lists. A gold medalist at
college, Gayathri has a post graduate degree in
Computer Applications.
An
A-Grade panel artiste of AIR Chennai, Gayathri
has given quite a number of interesting and
non-routine concerts such as Jugalbandis with
Hindustani musicians, vocal performances with
Thavil accompaniment, one Raga – one Kriti
concerts (that call for highest levels of
Manodharma) and numerous thematic concerts on
topics like Shanmatam and Nava Vidha Bhakthi.
She has also given several lecture
demonstrations on topics such as “Complex
Pallavis”, “Music and Mathematics” and
“Structural Variations in Compositions since the
Trinity”. She has given performances extensively
both in India and abroad. Some of her concerts
outside India encompass recitals at Cleveland,
Singapore, Russia, Colombo, Muscat and London.
She has also appeared in TV shows and has
recently undertaken an archival project of Divya
Prabandams by Doordarshan.

Ananthakrishnan (Violin)
B.
Ananthakrishnan hails from a reputed musician
family. He is the grandson of renowned Violin
Vidwan, Late V.K. Venkata Ramanujam Iyengar
(Professor – Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu
University), and son of equally reputed
violinist Dr V. Balaji, Head of the Department,
Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu
University (Varanasi). Ananthakrishnan continues
his training today under the guidance of the
well-known Violin Vidwan Sri S. Varadarajan.
He has had the honor of accompanying many
legends of Carnatic music and continues to share
the stage with all senior artists today.
Ananthakrishnan has received great appreciation
from reputed critics in major newspapers and
magazine publications across India and abroad.
He has performed alongside his grandfather the
late Vidwan V.K. Venkata Ramanujam at the young
age of seven in Delhi Doordarshan, 1993. He has
performed in every major sabha all over India,
including The Music Academy Madras, Sri Krishna
Gana Sabha, Narada Gana Sabha, Bharat Kalachar,
and Shanmukhananda Sabha (Mumbai), just to name
a few. He has done concert tours in several
countries around the world including Germany,
Belgium, USA, Singapore, Dubai, Doha, South
Africa, and Australia. He is a “B-High” grade
artist from All India Radio, Chennai.
Ananthakrishnan has won many Awards and
accolades such as:
The title “Mazhalai Medaai” in a national
competition conducted by the famous Tamil weekly
magazine, “Anandha Vikatan” and a gold medal and
citation of Rs.15,000, at the age of seven.

R Shankaranarayanan (Mridangam)
R.Shankaranarayanan hails from a traditional
music family of the legendary Sangeetha
Kalanidhi Brahmashri Papanasam Sivan. His
father, Papanasam Sri R. Ramani Bhagavathar is
one of the direct disciples of Sri Sivan and an
eminent Nama Sankeerthanam exponent.
He started learning Mridangam from Vidwan
Papanasam Sri Kumar for few months and now he is
under the able guidance of Mridangam Legend
“Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee” “Kalaimamani”
Vidwan Srimushnam Shri V.Rajarao to learn the
nuances and intricacies.
At the age of 9, he started performing for
carnatic music concerts. From then on, he has
performed all over India accompanying various
senior artistes like Chevalier Padma Vibhushan

N Guruprasad (Ghatam)
N. Guruprasad is the son of Ghatam Vidwan Shri
K. Nagaraja Rao and Smt Kallammal. He had his
initial training under his father and later
underwent gurukulam under ghatam maestro Shri
T.H. Vikku Vinayakram. Subsequently he
received training from ghatam Vidwan Shri V.
Suresh, and mridangam Vidwan “Laya Chudaroli”
Madurai Shri T. Srinivasan.
Guruprasad is one of the leading percussionists
in South India and regularly accompanies most of
the senior artists in the field of Carnatic
Music. He is also highly sought after in the
film industry and for collaborations with world
renowned artists of various genres. He has
had the privilege of playing alongside stalwarts
of percussion such as Shri Palghat Raghu, Shri
T.K. Moorthy, Shri Vellore Ramabhadhran, Shri
Umayalpuram K Sivaraman, Shri Karaikudi Mani,
Shri Trichy Sankaran, Shri Haridwarmangalam A.K.
Palanivel, Shri Kaliyamoorthy, and Shri
Thanjavur Govindarajan, to name a few.
He has performed in esteemed global venues such
as The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., The
Lincoln Center in New York City, the “Incredible
India” festival at The Oval Cricket Ground in
London, and along with the Johannesburg
Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa.
Guruprasad has been bestowed with numerous
awards and titles, which include the Bismillah
Khan Yuva Puraskar from Sangeet Natak Akademi –
New Delhi, the title of “Aasthaana Vidwan” of
Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt – Kanchipuram, and the
Kalki Krishnamurthy award in Chennai.
Guruprasad is also a reputed teacher and is
training many ghatam artists of the next
generation.
