the Artists Mysore Nagaraj & Mysore Manjunath (Mysore Brothers) Amazingly gifted Violin Maestros Mysore Nagaraj & Dr.Mysore Manjunath, the sons and disciples of renowned Violinist Sangeetha Vidhyanidhi Prof.Mahadevappa, were child prodigies who matured quickly to emerge as one of the top ranking violinists in India today. Their exceptional musical talents were first revealed at very tender age of 8 when they stormed in to the music world sweeping all the music lovers & critics off their feet by their extraordinary musical acumen and technical virtuosity. Acclaimed as child prodigies with astonishing musicianship, Nagaraj and Manjunath matured blossoming as one of the leading Instrumentalists in the contemporary musical scene. Their marvelous imagination and technical versatility made them one of the Top Ranking Violinists in the annals of Indian Classical Music. Nagaraj & Manjunath are one of the youngest musicians to be awarded A-Top Ranking. Excelling academically also, Dr.Manjunath did Master of Music at The University of Mysore, securing First rank and 4 Gold medals & did his PhD in Violin at the University of Mysore. Violin Concerts of these Maestros have been featured in innumerable Music festivals & conferences all over the world. Dr.Manjunath has collaborated with many out standing musicians from all over the world including Mark O'Connor, Ned Mcgowan, Mark wood, Jai Uttal, Fabrizio Cassol, Riccardo Nova, Todd Haaby, Joe Cravin & Fred Hamilton. Fusion Concerts they played with Renowned European Music bands - Akamoon, Spenifex orchastra & Ictus have been well received in Europe. Laurels & accolades kept pouring in right from their child hood. They are one of the youngest musicians to be honored with the prestigious Rajyothsava Award by the Government of Karnataka. Mysore brothers received innumerable awards including the Excellence award from American Institute of World culture, Honors from the American Arts council, Best Violinist awards from The Music Academy, Best violinist award from The prestigious Indian fine arts society, Aarkay Award from Aarkay-New York, Sangeeth Samrat, Aryabhata Award, Meritorious Award from University of Oklahoma-USA, Sangeeth Rathna, Ganavaridhi, Samskruthi Sinchana Award, Ganakalashree, Sangitha Vidwanmani, Sathyashri,Tanti Vadya Shiromani from Kanchi kamakoti peetham and etc. Some of the important Performances also include Music concerts at The Prestigious Sydney Opera House- Australia, Common thread Festival in Oregon, All European Cultural festival in Leicester, Festival of India in London, SAARC summit, Royal charity Concert at Putra World trade centre in Kuala Lumpur before the King of Malaysia, special concert before His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, the President of the Republic of Namibia, Concerts at Theatre da la villa in Paris, All European Music festival in Leicester, Santa Fe Music Festival in New Mexico, Federation Square- Melbourne, Congregational hall in Portland, Esplanade Theatre in Singapore, Bozar Contemporary Music Festival in Brussels, World Music special series on BBC and Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Jazzar fest in Switzerland and Innumerable Academic work shops & Presentations at various Universities world wide. Srimushanam Raja Rao Born in 1955 in Palayamkottai, Tamil Nadu, Shri Srimushnam V. Rajarao received his initial training in Mridangam from his father Shri S. Venkataramana Rao. He was later a student of Shri Kumbakonam M. Rajappa Iyer. He has received training in Carnatic vocal music from eminent teachers including Sarvashri Papanasam Sivan, Calcutta Krishnamurthy, and Mayuram Vaidyanatha Iyer. Shri Rajarao has over the years established himself as a Mridangam player, and has performed extensively in music festivals in India and abroad. He has accompanied many eminent Carnatic musicians, vocalists and players of instruments notably Sarvashri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, T.R. Mahalingam, Balamuralikrishna, T.N. Seshagopalan, T.N. Krishnan, Lalgudi Jayaraman, R.K. Srikantan, T.V. Sankaranarayanan, among others. He has also played with outstanding musicians of the Hindustani stream. Besides Mridangam, he plays the Kanjira and Morsing. He is often to be heard on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Shri Rajarao has received a number of honours for his work. These include the title of Kalaimamani bestowed by the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram (1999), the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi award (2010), and an award of the Kanchi Mahaswamy (2010). He has worked as a visiting professor of Mridangam at the University of California at Berkeley, USA. |
